Day 4: When I got back to Base Camp after my hike I had the entire place to myself. All of the other tourists had left. Then something interesting happened. The wind started to pick up and by 8 PM it was really blowing hard. I was surprised my tent was holding up. Then a Chinese Jeep pulled up and 5 Chinese tourists got out and set up a tent. The problem was that they set it up less than 3 feet (1 meter) from my tent. Why? They had all the room in the world and they set it up right next to my tent. Then they started to blast their radio really loud. So I decided to move my tent. But then disaster struck, the wind blew my tent away. I chased it all the way across the camp and finally I got it. But in the process two of the tent stakes got lost. There was no way I could pitch it again. So there I was, 9:30 PM, wind blowing like crazy, it's getting really cold, and I have no tent. I got a little mad but there was nothing I could do but hick down to Rongpuk Monestary where I knew I could find a place to sleep. I packed up and hit the trail about 10 PM and I immediatly felt better. The wind calmed down and the stars came out. It was really quite nice walking in the dark (no flash light). It took two hours to walk to Rongpuk but it was really a beautiful night walk. The kicker is that after I decided to pack up and leave Base Camp, the Chinese tourits packed up and left too.
